I decided to stick with the magazine cover for this project but to change up the entire design. It still relates to my topic in the same way where different aspects of the equestrian world. I took out the “Thrills n’ Spills of Riding” mainly because it made my design more visually appealing. For design influences, I used a magazine called “Young Rider” for an example of formatting my magazine cover. I found examples at https://www.discountmags.com/magazine/young-rider which were very helpful. The significance of the elements in my design is that they relate to different factors in the equestrian world. “In the Ring” refers to life as a competitive rider. Competitive horseback riding requires a lot more knowledge, preparation, and time than riding for fun, so it is referring to a section in the magazine that will be designated to life in the show ring. “Horse and Rider Bond” is the same relating to the behind the scenes bond which forms with a rider and his/her horse. My design process changes completely. I used some of the same images but put different effects on them. I first found a picture that would work for the cover. I was looking for a simpler picture that gave me enough room to add more elements. I changed the hue and saturation on the cover photo to brighten it up. Then I watched the cougar cub tutorial again, so I could change the color balance, levels, hue and saturation, and add a vignette. I went through this process for both smaller images. I used the magnetic lasso tool to cut-out a few images, but they did not look good once I put them on the actual cover. I collected the background photo the same way I collected the others, from my Facebook photography page (which contains all of my own images). For constructing my project using Adobe Photoshop, I opened an image from a new document to use as my background. Then I added the other images by going to file>place embedded, then double clicked on the photo to add adjustments. The main struggles I had was finding a way to get all required materials and not have the final project look congested. I did not struggle very much with the actual tools because I just followed the photoshop tutorials and played around with other aspects and if I didn’t like it, I deleted it. To keep it from getting cluttered, I just used simple aspects such as fonts and colors.
