For my final logo design I still used the horseshoe, but changed everything else up. I took my peers advice and changed the wording and font. Instead of having one horseshoe with “Littleton Equestrian Lessons” I crossed two horseshoes and used “GE” for “Goetz Equestrian”. For “GE” I added a blue and greenish gradient because I thought it contrasted with the gray on the horseshoes really well. I also changed the style of the logo so that is would be more scale-able when the logo is smaller, and the blue and green letters will still be legible. Another reason for changing up my design was to make sure it was more evenly placed. My draft had somewhat random text inside the horse shoe and it looked sloppy and uneven. This way, with the “GE”, I added a white stroke so that it would stand out from the horseshoes it falls on. The design process was just using my draft to trace the horseshoe and duplicating it. I then rotated both horseshoes in opposite directions and played around with them until I liked the way they were crossed. For the “Goetz Equestrian” under the horseshoes, I played with fonts and filled the text with the same blue and outlined it with the same green from the gradient. Before adding the “GE” I struggled with the pathfinder tool and using it on my horseshoe. I couldn’t find a way to get the horseshoes to cross over and under even after researching tutorials on the pathfinder tool. That is where the “GE” with the white stroke came in as my solution. This logo relates to my project better than the draft because it looks more clean cut and more obvious that is advertising that the brand is an equestrian brand. The last challenge I faced was adding the gradient to the actual text. After fiddling with the gradient tool for a while, I finally gave up and just made the text really big in the font I wanted and used the pen tool to trace the G and the E. Then I added the radial gradient. Overall, I am very pleased with how my final logo turned out and how it improved from my draft.
