For the draft video story, I decided to do a collection of videos and photos of barn life. The project relates to my topic because I have already discussed that riding horses is way more than a sport to me. This video project shows the meaning behind it, the connection between a horse and the rider, and the family that I have grown over the past 13 years. The design influences that help me create this project is the usual image and video collage with background music that everyone sees on YouTube. Although it is a basic and simple process/project, I thought it was the best option to truly portray the barn life and receive the reaction that I want from the viewers. It is meant to make you smile and feel warm and happy, the same way I do when I am at the barn. All of the elements I included are significant. One of the more significant pieces is the second still image I included. The horse and rider in this photograph that I took mean a lot to me. The rider was one of my very close friends who passed away when I was 15 in a school shooting. The raw footage I had submitted was all related to the accident. After I put some thought into it, I decided doing a video story about her and what happened was too personal and emotional. That is why I decided to focus on the warm and happy feeling. I collected this material from my previous videos and my photography page. Once I decided which elements to include, I used Premiere to edit the files. I used the beginning and end marks to select the parts of the clips I wanted and dragged the video only option to create the multitrack. From there, I scaled all of the clips to fit the page without any black space. I also added video transitions to some of the images and videos to make it more fun and interesting. Then I went to www.bensound.comto find background music that I liked. Once I found one I liked, I found the created commons license to make sure I could use it. Then I downloaded and imported it and dragged it to the audio 1 section of the multitrack. Finally, I created by title to put at the end and cut the music to fit the length of the video. The biggest challenge I faced was deciding the order of my clips and how to make it look good. The solution I found was actually just adding more effects and transitions, so it made it flow better.

I really liked how happy the song is in the beginning of this video. It goes really well with the “slide show” feel that I am picking up from your project. I think that a couple stationary shots would do this video justice. By that I mean like setting up a camera somewhere and just recording how everyday life on the barn looks like. Even if the opening clip was you pulling into the farm I think that would add a cool effect. I am sorry to hear about the loss of your friend, I love the idea of how you basically dedicated this to her. Keep of the good work!

Hello friend Logan, I think that you are off to a great start with your draft video story. You do a great job with showing how cool and awesome horses are. However, I would suggest possibly find a way to add in a voiceover that also helps whoever watching understand how dope horses are. It would also keep them more interested in your video. I also suggest putting your title at the start of the video that way people know right away what they are about to watch. I think you did a great job mixing photos and videos that showed what a true barn family looks like. I also liked how you added transitions in between your photos and videos which made it more interesting to watch and made the whole thing flow better. Overall you are off to a great start and I can’t wait to see the finished project.

I still like my idea and vibe for the video, but I could maybe add something more to make it more of a story. I am also working this week to see if I can get new footage. But based on the topic and my goal for the video project, I like the “walk down memory lane” vibe. Horseback riding will always be a part of my life, but now that I am in college, it is less relevant. Therefore, the memory lane idea gives me the option to relive the prime of my riding career. Based on the comments my peers left, and other videos I have watched, I think I might change the beginning of my video. I will add a title slide and have a video that is more opening or a still shot of my horse. This will act as a good introduction and title page. I may move the title from my last scene and just keep the “Video and Editing by Logan Goetz”.

I think you did a really good job on this project! I like the slideshow theme for your project. I think the music you chose really contributed to the vibe of your project too. The only thing I would suggest would be to add a voiceover of maybe one of your favorite stories with your horse or something extra to make it more of a story. Overall, I think you are off to a great start!
