Hello! I’m Logan Goetz. I am from Littleton, Colorado, the most beautiful state to grow up in. My incredible family has supported me in all my adventures throughout my life, the biggest adventure being horse back riding. Before I get into that, let me tell you about that amazing family. I have two very loving and caring parents who were high school sweethearts and have been married for 34 years. My two older sisters are my best friends. Shelby is 27 and works as an ICU nurse and is in school currently getting her nurse practitioner degree. Sydney who is 23 just finished getting her masters and CPA in accounting. Sydney is also the one who turned me into a crazy horse girl because I followed her footsteps into riding. When I started riding at age 8, it was just a way for me to be more like my sister. Then, when I got older I realized how much I loved it and how it gave m e an escape from the world when things got too difficult to handle. Throughout the struggles in my life, I learned that nobody truly understands what happens behind closed doors. That brings me to the topic I plan to focus on in COM 210. The biggest struggle I faced in my life was Freshman year of high school when one of my best friends who I rode horses with was killed in a school shooting. I had an extremely hard time coping and accepting the fact that she was actually gone. I went down a dark path that I couldn’t seem to find the light at the end of the tunnel. I saw many different psychologists, but it was not until I found my psychologist Lisa Billings that the tiny light started to form. It is the reason I am going into psychology and wanting to get my Phd to help other people cope with various traumas in their life.
